FLESH, INK. FRIDAY - World Bodypainting Festival

This year's World Bodypainting Festival takes place this coming week in Seeboden, in the south of Austria. Between July 17 - 23, 2006, over 20,000 participants and spectators will take place in what has become one of Europe's most colorful festivals. Artists from over 40 countries will exhibit their work, lead workshops, and compete for a variety of prizes - awards are given to artists, models, photographers, and videographers alike.

So, since we've all become aficionados of body painting together in the last few months, let's all drop what we're doing and head to the World Bodypainting Festival... I've been to Austria in the summer, and it's truly beautiful - an experience not to be missed. A LARGE number of the artists that you've come to love in this feature will be represented at this year's Festival.

You can take a look at the progress of the Festival ground set-up here, or check out the promotional video for the Festival here. This page also gives quite an assortment of other video from past Festivals - they're really amazing... it's one thing to see these works of art captured in still image, but quite another to see them in motion.

If you need a little bit more inspiration, take your time perusing the photos taken from past Festivals, and don't forget to check out the entire gallery at the World Bodypainting Festival's official website.
