Maybe That's Why He Needs Them Posted In His Workplace

Republican Congressman Lynn Westmoreland (8th District of Georgia) appeared on The Colbert Report last night. At this point, given Colbert's appearance at the White House Press Correspondant's Dinner and the popularity of the show, Colbert is not an unknown entity.

Why is it, then, that these politicians agree to appear with him, and then give such moronic answers to his questions? Keep in mind - Colbert is NOT a REAL journalist. He just plays one on TV.

Take a look at the entire interivew above to get a sense of just how poorly Georgia's 8th District is represented. Here are some highlights:
____________________

COLBERT: We have a massive budget deficit right now. What can we get rid of to balance the budget?

WESTMORELAND: The Department of Education.

____________________

COLBERT: You co-sponsored a bill requiring the display of the Ten Commandments in the House of Represetatives and the Senate. Why was that important to you?

WESTMORELAND: Well, the Ten Commandments (sic) is not a bad thing for people to understand and to respect.

COLBERT: I'm with you.

WESTMORELAND: (sic) Where better place could you have something like that, than in a Judicial building, or in a courthouse?

COLBERT: That is a good question. Can you think of any better building to put the Ten Commandments in, than in a public building?

WESTMORELAND: No.
(No better buildings like... oh, I dunno... A CHURCH?!?)
____________________

COLBERT: What are the Ten Commandments?

WESTMORELAND: What are all of them? You want me to name them all?

COLBERT: Yes.

WESTMORELAND: Ummmmm..... Don't murder. Don't lie. Don't steal. Ummm.... I can't name 'em all.

So, maybe THAT's why Congressman Westmoreland sponsored the legislation. If he doesn't know them, maybe he could brush up on them while he's at work. He's got a few other items to brush up on, however. The legislation he co-sponsored would require the display of the Ten Commandments in the House of Representatives and the Senate - LEGISLATIVE buildings, not Judicial buildings.

Way to do your Republican party and your District proud, Congressman DoNothing!
