The "failure" search on Google may not be fake but it is fishy. Seriously, what is the explanation for the President's site coming up other than someone stacking/tweaking something since the word "failure" does not come up on the site....

Of course it's fishy! :) It's called Google Bombing. Google doesn't search just content. It also keeps track of how many times a site is linked, and under what words that link is associated.

If, therefore, enough people get together and decide to link the bio of George W. Bush with the word "failure" on their site, it pushes that site up the ranking for that word, even if the word doesn't appear on the site itself.

Call it "grassroots search engineering" if you will. :)

The search, coincidentally, works with the words "miserable failure," as well - and as well it should. :)
