Tuna and Powdered Milk Under The Bed?!?
Write your own friggin' punch line. Best punch line left in the comments will be crowned the winner.
I read the comments of HHS Secretary Michael Leavitt here at first. And I thought the reporter must have been trying to be cute-sy... certainly Michael Leavitt did NOT actually recommend that people stock pile tuna and powdered milk under their beds as a preparation for the Avian Flu? Even if it's coming TOMORROW, is THIS the best advice to give?
"Forget the damned pantry, Americans... this is a BIRD FLU... better have that canned tuna close by, where you can reach it as you cower under the covers!!!!"
However, this is the Administration that brought you the "we're prepared" during Hurricane Katrina, as well as that oldie but goodie, Duct Tape and Plastic Sheeting.
I had to look elsewhere to confirm the quote. Sure enough, it appears in several different news stories.
So, you heard him.... get to stock piling that tuna fish and powdered milk. And work on those punch lines.
